Privacy Notice

Schumacher College is part of the Dartington Hall Trust, a company limited by guarantee, registered in England and as a charity (company no. 1485560, charity no. 279756). This privacy notice aims to give you information on how the Dartington Hall Trust and its subsidiary companies collect and process your personal data through your use of this website, including any data you may provide through this website when you sign up to our newsletter, purchase a product or service, make a donation, or take part in a competition or survey. This website is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.

It is important that you read this privacy notice together with any other privacy or fair processing notice we may provide for our different programmes when we are collecting or processing personal data about you so that you are fully aware of how and why we are using your data. This privacy notice supplements the other notices and is not intended to override them.

Data Controller

The Dartington Hall Trust is the controller and responsible for your personal data (collectively referred to as ‘Dartington’ in this privacy notice).

Dartington is made up of different legal entities, details of which can be found below. This privacy notice is issued on behalf of the Dartington Hall Trust Group so when we mention “Dartington”, “we”, “us” or “our” in this privacy notice, we are referring to the relevant company in the Dartington Hall Trust Group responsible for processing your data which, in this case, is Schumacher College.

Please also see the Dartington Hall Trusts Privacy Policy which sets out the terms on which we process any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us. By using our site, you consent to such processing and you warrant that all data provided by you is accurate.

Short Course Terms and Conditions

1. The course fee includes all tuition, accommodation (unless otherwise stated), meals and field trips and in some cases an Earth Talk ticket where applicable.

 a) To book your place a £150 deposit, or full payment, is required. We can not guarantee your place on a course until we recevive your deposit/payment.

 b) If you book within 6 weeks of the course start date, the full course fee is payable at the time of booking.

 c) A course will be confirmed to run approximately six weeks before its start date.

 d) Once a course is confirmed the deposit becomes non-refundable.

 e) If, having paid the full fee, you wish to cancel more than two weeks before the start of the course, the fee minus the deposit will be refunded. Later cancellations will attract no refund.

 f) Any travel, or other arrangements, made for your participation on the course are entirely made at your own risk.

2. You are responsible for transfer fees and bank administration fees. Please check the amount of these fees with your bank at the point of transfer and add any transfer fees that might be incurred with your payment.

3. Schumacher College advises you not to make any irreversible arrangements, travel or otherwise, until you receive confirmation that the course will run.

4. Course cancellations are rare, but if Schumacher College has to cancel a course, all fees paid will be refunded (unless you choose to accept any substitute we may offer), but no liability can be accepted for any consequential losses you might incur.

You are advised to insure yourself against any losses due to either you having to cancel your place or the course being cancelled.

5. The College reserves the right to make changes to the advertised teachers and programme as necessary.

6. Unless we have been notified explicitly of any dietary, or other requirements at the time of booking and have agreed to them, we cannot guarantee that they will be met.

7. Schumacher College reserves the right to reject an application without explanation.

8. Schumacher College reserves the right to require a participant to leave the college during a course if her, or his, continuing attendance is not in the best interests of the other participants or the college.

9. UK Immigration Law - On the 1st April 2009 changes to the UK's Immigration Law came into effect. The changes affect people from outside the European Economic Area and Switzerland entering the UK to study. Please ensure that you have a legitimate right of entry into the UK.
