Earth Talk Video: Perseverance. Walking the Path with Heart in These Difficult Times - Margaret Wheatley

Perseverance is the capacity to stay with our work long after the passion has faded. It is also the discernment to know when to stop pushing the boulder up hill. How do we follow the path with heart—enduring setbacks, criticism, failure and loss—and still keep going? How do we confront the dominant energies of our time — aggression, fear, patriarchy — and not get caught up in them? How do we cope with our exhaustion and overwhelm? How do we deal with our grief for the world?

From 40 years of working with leaders on all continents and with most types of organizations, Meg feels compelled to challenge leaders at this historic juncture: Do we contribute to the deterioration of human capacity by our silence and compliance, or do we act bravely and use our power and influence to champion the human spirit, creating islands of sanity wherever we can?  Since 1973, she has taught, consulted, advised, and written seven books, beginning with the path-breaking Leadership and the New Science (1992). Her book published in 2012 was, So Far From Home: Lost and Found in Our Brave New World (Berrett-Koehler, October 2012), describes how we ended up in a world no one wants, a harsh, destructive world that's emerged in spite of our best efforts to change it.  Facing our current reality free from denial, she invites us to take on the role of warriors for the human spirit.
