Ha Vinh Tho from the Centre for Gross National Happiness, Bhutan gives a talk about GNH and The Bhutan Experiment at Schumacher College.
The principles of GNH matter not only to Bhutan but to a world focused on unbridled economic growth, fighting climate change, pollution, resource degradation, species and cultural extinctions, stress-related diseases, and entrenched poverty and insecurity.
GNH directly addresses such global, national and mental challenges by pointing to the non-material roots of wellbeing. In sharp contrast to the present GDP-based system, the new paradigm will enhance human happiness and the wellbeing of all life.
The new development model will function within planetary boundaries, without degrading nature or depleting the world’s precious resources. Those resources will be distributed fairly and used efficiently.
Dr. Ha Vinh Tho is the Program Development Coordinator of the Gross National Happiness Centre in Bhutan. He is in charge of setting the learning objectives, developing the curriculum and the learning process both for Bhutanese and international participants.
