The Systems View of Life a new book by Fritjof Capra

Wednesday, 5 November, 2014

Dear Schumacher College alumni,

I am delighted to let you know that my new book, The Systems View of Life, coauthored with Pier Luigi Luisi, was published earlier this year by Cambridge University Press. For me, this book is a grand synthesis of my work over the last thirty years. It is a multidisciplinary text integrating the biological and the cognitive, as well as the social and ecological dimensions of life. Some of it will be familiar to those of you who have attended my Schumacher courses over the last twenty years, but this is (for now) my definitive synthesis, including an in-depth analysis of systemic solutions to the major problems of our time, from energy and climate change to food insecurity and economic inequality. I hope you will enjoy The Systems View of Life, and if you do would you be so kind and recommend the book to others via Facebook or Twitter?

With many thanks and with warm regards,

"Your book is wonderful, the best overview of the subject matter ever presented."  — Satish Kumar

“A magisterial study of the scientific basis for an integrated worldview grounded in the wholeness that generations of one-eyed reductionists could not see. The authors succeed brilliantly!”    — David Orr

“The Systems View of Life is just what I've been waiting for! ... [It] is a work to savor, to absorb. It will change you. In a systems view, we see there are no parts, only participants. What possibilities it opens!”      — Frances Moore Lappé
