International Bake-a-Cake Fundraising Day

To celebrate Julia’s book launch we will be hosting Julia’s International Bake-a-Cake Day on Sunday 21st September. You bake a cake and invite friends, raising funds wherever you are in the world. For inspiration, recipes and details of how to enter the cake bake competition.

William On Sabbatical

House Manager William Thomas takes 8 months sabbatical after 24 years at the College. He’ll be researching his book ‘Housekeeping Hints and Tips from Schumacher College’ and planning a walking pilgrimage to take place on his return next April. To contact William while he’s away email

Gaia Theory at the BBC Proms

Composer Jonathan Drove came to the College to discuss Gaia Theory with ex-student Rob Woodford, and members of the Holistic Science faculty. Hear his latest piece titled ‘Gaia Theory’ performed at the BBC proms.

Charlie McConnell, past Director of the College and now President of the International Association for Community Development, has recently published a new book entitled Finding our Voice: The Power of Community Education, Organisation and Development.
