As the MSc Holistic Science at Schumacher College reaches its 20th anniversary, the Faculty have agreed that the programme requires a period of reflection and renewal after 19 years of exploring the foundations of a science that rigorously integrates rationality and intuition.

Just as in nature we respect that no field tilled endlessly year after year can go on being fertile, we recognise that the programme that we run as the Masters in Holistic Science needs to be allowed its own fallow time – a fruitful pause for regeneration and renewal. This will allow the work of Holistic Science to take on a new relevance and to take on freshly enlivened forms as it moves forward into a new phase of its development. It is clear that uncertainty is increasing in the world, and that we need a more mature science capable of responding to these challenging times by giving individuals a stronger sense of direction and purpose based on a deep embeddedness in nature.

What next?
During the year ahead we will offer a series of creative spaces where those deeply interested in creating a more mature science that can contribute to stimulating explorations about future directions for this ground breaking programme.  We invite you to help us extend the field of Holistic Science into a form more relevant for our current social, technological and environmental challenges.
Invitations to various workshops, seminars and activities that will prepare the ground for the next phase of the programme’s life will be advertised on our website and within the Schumacher College Newsletter.
