Jonathan Dawson and Ross Jackson discuss 'Pathways to Prosperity'

Monday, 5 March, 2018

How do we find practical ways to intervene and improve the health of our global economic system?

A free webinar is being held this week to examine what pathways might offer solutions to this challenge.

Pathways to Prosperity:Turning around the Global Economy is the second in the Glocalisers Webinar Series offered by Schumacher College and Gaia Education, an international organisation which aims to increase access to learning around the world.

On Wednesday March 7, Jonathan Dawson, head of economics at the College and former president of the Global Ecovillage Network, together with Ross Jackson, author and founder of the Gaia trust in Denmark, will explore how to find critical leverage points in the existing financial system and consider where intervention may be possible.

Naresh Giangrande, one of the founders of Transition Towns, will be moderating the discussion, inviting them to sketch some potential pathways to solutions within ecological limits.

The conversation will include an examination of how it might be possible to reform the economic system using open source innovation, moving away from a centralised to a distributed system.

They will also assess the impact of small, relocalised economies on large scale, globalised systems.

Gaia Education is active in almost 50 countries and already has 17,000 graduates around the world.  It aims to build capacity on whole systems design by supporting the emergence of local solutions to global challenges.

The hour-long webinar on March 7, 2018 will begin at 0900 in California, 1400 in Brazil, 1700 in the UK, 1800 in Spain.  You can find out more about it and sign up for it here
