Schumacher College is an international centre in ecological studies, social action and transformative education. With an enviable reputation for cutting-edge learning, its postgraduate and short courses deliver a unique brand of small group, residential learning experiences. The college campus is part of Dartington, a progressive rural farm estate in Southwest England.

We are seeking to appoint a fulltime, permanent lecturer for our postgraduate programme in Ecological Food Systems. This interdisciplinary course, delivered in collaboration with Plymouth University, explores research and practice that addresses the social, ecological and economic challenges our food systems face in the 21st Century. The college’s sustainable food production courses started in 2008, as part of its land-based operation growing organic food for the college and trials in Agroforestry.

We are looking for an engaging communicator and innovator, with a passion for ‘whole person learning’. You will have extensive experience in sustainable food or agriculture, in an academic, campaigns or practitioner context. You will have a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience, strong organisational skills and be committed to the values and ethos of Schumacher College. Excellent English language skills are required. As well as teaching and associated academic duties, you will guide and support the students’ learning journey. You will collaborate with colleagues in delivering a programme that is innovative, pioneering and a catalyst for positive change in food systems.

There is an option for this post to be residential.
