New Roots of Learning Course - Re-Animating Science
Re-Animating Science: Implications for Curriculum, Classrooms and School Leadership.
A third Roots of Learning course has been added to the programme, scheduled to run over the spring half-term. It will be co-taught by Schumacher MSc Coordinator Stephan Harding and Jane Reed, who has been working in the field of teacher and school development for the past thirty years and is currently Head of the International Network for School Improvement at the Institute of Education at London University.
The course will look at how new scientific insights from ecology, systems thinking and learning can be a source of inspiration and creativity for the way we think about the purposes and renewal of our schools. The course will introduce an animistic approach to science in an experiential and exciting way that will support classroom practices and help participants think about schools as living systems. It will help participants to develop thinking, resources and community practices that will support the development of a more holistic ecological culture and ethos in schools, and will provide intellectual challenge as well as experience and reflection.
This course is only for teachers, academics and others currently working in education. Dates: May 27 to June 1, 2007.
