Job Opportunity: Director of Sustainability

Director of Sustainability
circa £60,000
Dartington, South Devon

Dartington is a pioneering charity which nurtures ideas to address pressing problems. Based on a beautiful rural estate in South Devon, Dartington has an outstanding track record in tackling important issues with creativity and courage. As we enter a new chapter in our development we believe there is no greater challenge to humanity than that of finding ways to help people live more sustainable lives. We are bringing together a new programme of practical, experimental and educational work, and creating a new post to direct this programme alongside our other programmes in the Arts and Social Justice.

As Director of Sustainability, you will be responsible for all our activities across this major strand of our work, including Schumacher College and Landscope. You will need to develop an overall strategy, to create innovative programmes that address the challenges of sustainability in ways that you believe are important, and to review our existing activities to ensure they remain at the leading edge in their fields and contribute to the whole.

You will report to the Chief Executive and you will play a full role as one of the senior management team, developing synergies across all our activities.

To undertake this role you will need to have been influential in some aspect of sustainability and be seeking a platform to develop your vision and creative thinking further. You will need to be a social entrepreneur, with strong business acumen and the ability to turn compelling ideas into practical application.

In return, we offer an environment where you will enjoy the freedom, cooperation and support to realise your ideas and make a lasting impact both at Dartington and in the wider world.
