Schumacher College will be highlighting the critical skills and new approaches needed for radical change at next month’s Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. Along with the worlds NGO’s, activists and movement’s like the Transition Network, we will be taking part in Klimaforum09, the civic society conference which is running alongside the UN organised COP15.
On the 14th December international delegates will join us for a briefing session on Sustainable Living, Localism and Resilience (organised in collaboration with the Transition Network) and following this on the 16th December we have been invited to deliver a workshop on Ecoliteracy: Critical Skills for Radical Change to the Association of Danish Academics.
14 December, 2009 1300 – 1600, Klimaforum Keynote session
An inspirational and participatory event including screening of the recently released film ‘IN TRANSITION’
|
Transition Network and Schumacher College offer a participatory event inspired by grass roots action that communities are taking in response to the twin challenges of climate change and peak oil. What would your own community look like as we lead a way of life that is more resilient, more fulfilling and more equitable whilst dramatically lowering our carbon footprint and reducing oil dependency? Around the globe hundreds of communities are using the Transition model to make this a reality and some of their stories are captured on the recently released film ‘IN TRANSITION’. The film includes footage sent from a wide range of communities from the first official transition town in Totnes, England to the 100th transition initiative in Fujino, Japan. This 3 hour interactive workshop will include a chance to meet others, see the film, imagine a positive future for your community, and quiz panel members about the Transition story.
Schumacher College has a stand at Klimaforum09 between 14 – 16th December. If you are taking part in Klimaforum09, do come and visit us. Look for us in the Purple Hall. If you anticipate a few hours to spare and would like to help run the stand, we’d love to hear from you. Please email susie@rip.org.uk
