If you want our government to support efforts to reduce climate change then come and contribute to our message.

From 6th – 18th December 2009, governmental representatives from 170 countries will meet in Copenhagen to develop a new climate agreement. This could radically affect how we all live as we adapt to climate change. What is your vision of the future, post-Copenhagen? What do you want to
see in the Copenhagen climate agreement?

Schumacher College will be sending a message to the UK government representatives going to Copenhagen. We invite members of the local community to air their voices and contribute to this message by joining us at St John’s on 16th September to participate in a world-cafe style discussion. Time will also be given to other creative contributions you may wish to make. Chairing the event will be Charlie McConnell, Director of Schumacher College and the wider sustainability activities at Dartington.

Key questions for consideration at the world cafe

Following a successful climate change summit this December in Copenhagen what do you imagine the future in Totnes will be like?

In order to ensure a successful climate change summit this December in Copenhagen what would you encourage the UK delegation to consider in their negotiations?

We welcome participation on these questions from residents, businesses and other community members in Totnes and it’s surroundings.

We look forward to seeing you there. Remember to book, to help us prepare.

What is a world café?

To ensure that all attending can actively participate we will be running this event as a world café conversation. This is a form of facilitated discussion within small groups within a room, who feed into the main aim of the room as a whole. In this case the purpose is to contribute key points to the UK delegation going to Copenhagen. In our experience it works very well and is also an enjoyable and relaxing way of debating a hot topic like this!
