Ezio Manzini is a designer, engineer, architect, educator and author. His main research interest is in strategic design and design for sustainability, with a focus on scenario building and solution development. At the Politecnico di Milano he is coordinator of the Unit of research design and innovation for Sustainability, of the Doctorate in Industrial Design and Multimedia Communication and, finally, of the Master in Strategic Design Scientific Committee. He has been involved in several international commissions, expert panels and working groups including the Scientific Panel of the National Environmental Agency (1998 – 2000) and the Expert Group on Competitive and Sustainable Production (2000). His recent and current research activities include Creative Communities for Sustainable Lifestyles, a project developed as part of the Task Force on Sustainable Lifestyles, within the United Nations 10 Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (usually called Marrakech Process). He is co-promoter, with Francois Jegou, of the Sustainable Everyday Project (SEP): a web platform dedicated to sustainable social innovation in everyday life, with an open database of promising innovation cases (http://www.sustainable-everyday.net). On this web site the results of several of his recent activities on design for sustainability can be found.
Each month some of the tutors from our Short Course programme kindly share their knowledge and views at our regular public Open Evenings – usually held at the College or in Totnes.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
