Satish Kumar will host an extraordinary supper for his special friends to celebrate 21 years of Schumacher College and to help raise funds to continue the transformative education that takes place here and across the world.
We are delighted to invite you to Darkness and Light! An evening of wonderment and magical delight to celebrate the Winter Solstice to be held in the library at Schumacher College on Monday 17 December 2012 7:30pm.
Our resident cook, Julia Ponsonby (author of Gaia’s Kitchen) and the kitchen team will be cooking a sumptuous four course vegetarian banquet for the event.
The Schumacher Foundation is a charitable trust and we have recently been offered a generous donation from a philanthropist on the condition that the College matches the amount offered. Our deadline is April 2013. The funding will go to support our bursary programme, course developments including a new Masters programme in Ecological Design and capital projects such as the eco-refurbishment of our accommodation buildings and a natural build bike store.
The Darkness and Light event will include an Unearthly Auction! here you will have the opportunity to bid for the most wonderful things including your own pilgrimage with Satish Kumar on Dartmoor, having your birthday cake made by Julia Ponsonby, or even a strapping Schumacher College gardener for the day! The evening promises to be an enchanting one and it would be enhanced by your presence. There will be dance, music, performances and great food too! The band for the evening are Fromage en Feu, a gypsy styled quintet, who bring a wild and energetic set …sure to have everyone bouncing, swaying and jigging from the off!
We have three ticket prices ranging from £200 / £100/ £50, we invite you to pay at the highest level you can afford. The evening would make a fantastic gift for someone special. Accommodation is available.
