Schumacher College

World Wide We – two months on! By Joanna Brown

It’s two months now since the World Wide We project went live. The project was launched to coincide with the Schumacher Centenary Conference in Bristol where Matt Harvey read a poem specially written for the WWWe project, which you can hear here: WWWelcome poem.

Since then, WWWe has been warmly welcomed in Oxford, Glasgow and Leeds, and received support from Tim Smit (Eden Project – pictured), Andrew Simms (N.E.F.), the Lord Mayor of Oxford and Benny Wenda (West Papua). If you look through our Flickr album here .. you will also find Hilary Benn MP and Sir Harry Burns making the WWWe ‘W’ sign, which was initiated at the College when our new patron Bill McKibben visited.

Since its launch, we have had a great response with nearly 800 people signing up to show their support for the project and its vital message. As each week passes we’re seeing more and more people get involved and we need your help to keep the momentum growing.

Our current priority is to raise enough money wwwe.org/donate] to complete the development of the networking platform which we plan to launch in spring/summer 2012. In the meantime, we are welcoming individuals and organisations as volunteers to try out the platform as it develops. If you are interested in this scheme, please contact me at joanna@wwwe.org.

Finally, if you haven’t signed up then click here to get involved in and for more updates see our News page.
